Mom's Pumpkin Pie

1 envelope unflavored gelatin

2/3 cup dark brown sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp ginger

3/4 cup hot water

1 pint vanilla ice cream, softened

1 can pumpkin (NOT pie filling)

9" baked pie crust

Combine gelatin with brown sugar, salt and spices. Stir in hot water. Heat to boiling, stirring. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla ice cream by spoonfuls. Add pumpkin and mix until smooth. Pour into pie crust and chill until firm.
